I know this site isn't very active, but it still annoys me when it goes down 10x a day, and when it is actually up it runs really slowly. There's two things causing these issues, one is the web host. I was running bpgaming on a shared hosting account that was WAY overloaded with some dodgy hardware. This caused lots of server crashes and the server not actually running very fast. I've solved this by moving the forums over to my dedicated box that I mainly use for dev work. It actually has better hardware, better internet connection, better location (in Europe, not US) and I have much more control over the software being run so I can keep the speed up and add optimisation bits and bobs when required. The second thing causing slowdowns was the forum software it self. I was running vBulletin, something that was once a great piece of software made by people who actually cared about the product, but the campany was bought by a large corporate machine (rawr anti-corporations!!!) that managed to run off the true developers, run the product into tho ground and release paid software for 10x it's worth with more bugs than software I create. I've now moved across to XenForo, made by the old vBulletin developers (the ones that ran away from the evil corporation) just a much needed redesign of the system and some care they've created a very smooth feeling and fast running bit of software. It's still in beta, but is more stable than the crap I had installed before. I'm still tweaking things, but posting SHOULD be working fine, if not, TRY and use the contact form.... should be a link to that somewhere. Oh, also. New software, new style. Hai Mikey!! Yeah, someone posted a slightly tweaked style on XenForo, and something about it caught my eye. So I made something similar with a nice green colour scheme but keeping a blue gradient as a background. Still need to tweak some colours in places, but with xf that's just a 30sec job

yeah, sucks that no one is really about anymore, oh well. people definitely look around now and then so I try and post things when I think of them, hopefully we can get some people back talking
