Games of the Week (Or month): 24/5/08

Firstly, I don't remember half the games I've played recently, just been throwing everything at myself :)

The ones that spring to my mind are:

    Grand Theft Auto IV
    Platform: Playstation 3, Xbox 360
    Availability: Worldwide
    Pricing: ~£40
    Genre: Blow shit up

I don't think I need to give a description of this game, if I don't your just not cool, so no description here, other than well, it's another awesome GTA game.

Verdict: Buy this game if you have had any interest in previous GTA games

    TrackMania Nations/United Forever
    Platform: PC / Steam
    Availability: Worldwide
    Pricing: Free / £20
    Genre: Time Attack Racing

Ok, Nations is a FREE game on steam, TrackMania is a racer, go play it :) Anyway, Nations and United share an online mode, which involves the art of beating other peoples cars around crazy courses with loops and overbanked turns, in your F1 looking car. It supports a stupid number like 40 players on a single track at a time, and as such there is NO COLLISIONS, but that doesn't matter as your 5 minutes of flipping off that same corner cause you forget there's a brake. United, costs money and adds a single player, and I believe more cars for the online (therefore there is a United only part of online, but they play together for the F1 cars), I'm not sure it is worth the $40 off steam, I haven't bought it :)

Verdict: Nations is free, go grab it. I'm undecided about purchasing United myself, we'll see

    I Wanna Be The Guy
    Platform: PC
    Availability: Online
    Pricing: Free
    Genre: Evil Platformer

This is one of those evil trial and error platformers you should have heard about. There you are, navigating a hard section of moving lifts around spikes, dodging randomly falling spikes, you think you've made it, and then... BAM, the floor falls through and you get hit by a plane (actually happens). If you have issues with getting angry with games, this will either fix that issue of drive you insane and probably cost you about £800 :)

Day Of Defeat: Source (New Beta)
Everyone who visits this site knows this game, I've just decided to play DoDs again, just in time for the New Beta incorporating some little tweaks and a new map, although there seems to be a few more maps than last time I played this game... oh and I really suck now

I played rockband this weekend at a mates :] it ROCKS! :p so much fun when you're with a group and 1 does guitar, 1 drums, 1 sings, and another guitar if you have 2 (he had guitar hero before ;p)
also played gta 4 but I can't understand the huge hype about it, and getting a 10 score in magazines... they do nothing new, just make agood game with the same concept over and over again, replay value is getting lower and lower by every version they make, I mean, don't you ever get bored of it? :p

tbh, i nearly didn't get gta4, because I was bored of all the previous ones, I actually rented it at first, but it proved worthy of the money. Personally, wouldn't give it a 10, but i also don't give games number scores :)
