Gigabit Networking

Well Hello,
Nice new forum. Now for my Question......
If I were to buy a gigabit switch and gigabit nics for my home comps, What do I do with my Wireless router that is only 10/100 switch? If I use the router still for my dsl, and plug it into the gigabit switch, will it slow down the speed of the gigabit LAN? Or am I just thinking of the old days with Hubs? I plan on using my existing router [Linksys WRT54G] for connection do my DSL modem, then plugging an ethernet jumper from the router to the gigabit switch, then plugging all comps into the gigabit switch. Is this the proper way to go about this?

I am obviously deathly afraid I will spend the money and then not be able to use it at it's highest speed.
