Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban [GBA]

The game from Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban is finally there. It is a lot better then part 1 and 2. It is a nice RPG game. But still it is a rather short game.

Graphics – 8/10

It has nice 3d graphics for a Gameboy Advance game. But the portraits they use in a conversation could be better. The portraits doesn’t look like so good on the draw version of Harry, Hermione and Ron. The battle graphics are very good. Inclusive the spell attacks they use.

Gameplay – 9/10

The gameplay is very good. You can use some spell out of the battle, like: Flipendo, Alohomora, Lumos and Reparo. You often walk with Harry, but there are some parts you have to walk with Hermione or Ron.

The combat system, like any RPG in my mind is quite fun. Here you can select from a variety of spells, from the basic 'Flipendo' charm which costs 0 MP, to others such as Incendio and Petrificus Totalus. Some of these, like Petrificus, are simply status effecting spells. All spells also have a chance to level up once you've used them enough. Different spells effect different enemies, and it tells you which ones for what enemy once you gather information on the enemy (Informus charm)

Storyline – 6/10

The story runs very fast, if you compare it with the book. But some times you have to use a spell; otherwise you can’t go further in the game. You also learn more spell how further you are. Some parts of the story are made up by the game makers, like you have to find 5 monster books in the garden of Hagrid. After you finished the story once, you can play it with the same level you ended.

Music – 5/10

The music is not very good. Sometimes I get a headache of it. The melodies are the same they used in other Harry Potter games. They should make new melodies with more variation in it.


So the average is 7/10. I said it before; it is a rather short game. If you buy it, you spill your money on it. Just download the rom if you want to play it.
