I'd say 30 quid is pretty damn pricey for a headset though tbh. If I were you I'd get some shitty small mic and stick it to the side of your p.c with bluetack and then use your stereo speakers (or p.c speakers if you don't already have your p.c and stereo hooked up), it works fine for me and I found the mic in the cupboard - no expense at all! Harrah!

you say that, until you start playing properly with a headset.... alot easier to work out where sound is coming from, a good headset will contain excellent quality sound and the mic will pickup you talking without stupid fuzzy background noises.
I have a 5.1 surround system for my pc, setup perfectly, yet when i'm playing properly my headset is the answer

and jord, if U go to a lan tourney its easy to just bring Ur headset, as opposed to dragging along stereo speakers

I used to play with speakers and they were good enough at the time. Though the amp blew up so I've been using crappy ipod 1st gen-style earphones <shudder>
This all comes from playing with some sexy Sennheiser headset at a mates house which cost like £50+, I was like weeee!! I can follow you perfectly as you run behind that wall
