At approximately 12:00AM (midnight) UTC on Monday morning, Sony proved how good it's system was at time travel, sending millions of Playstations to December 31st 1999. A very strange issue, nearly one to laugh at, until you point out that PSN seems to need a correct date to function, causing all but the latest PS3s (specifically the slim model) to no longer function. You can't play ANY game that has trophies enabled, either online or off, you can't watch any videos rented from the store and you can't log in.
The fun doesn't stop there, data is being corrupted as the system attempts to get the correct date (which it probably thinks is 29th February 2010, which isn't valid), even manually setting the date doesn't seem to be working, which is weird. From the news posting by Sony (linked at end) it seems they are just hoping that tomorrow will tick over and it will work again, oh, and they're advising not to turn your system on if it's not a slim model; too late for most most likely.

Even as a big fan of the Playstation, this is kind of amusing.
UPDATE: As expected, March 2nd ticked over and it sorted itself out, although the systems think the date was March 1st until they reset the clock.
