Bman has decided to install new servers. Physically he has 2 machines which can run the following:
CS
CS-source
DOD
DOD source
All on linux with AMX
secondly and even more important:
Bman has baught a 1 Mbit up connection. This will be up and running somewhere in january.
1 Mbit up means he can run a 10 slots CS server and a 16 slots DOD server lagfree (Our goal is to run lagfree servers) (we can host about 28 slots lagfree)
On demand he can switch to Source dedicated servers. (just send an email to bpghelpdesk@hotmail.com 1 day ahead to him or me)
This means u guys can also participate on sourse ladders....
The IP of servers will change, because B is gonna switch from provider (Quicknet on BBnet network)
More details will follow and Bman will keep u guys posted. (in this thread)
For DOD and CS matches plz use VENTRILO!
Also check the ENEMYDOWN page for fixtures or use forum for fixtures that are posted
(No access to these sections?... Ask Breaker or someone else from management to help u out)
NO VENTRILO = NO MATCH FOR U IF THERE ARE MORE PLAYERS THAN SPOTS IN A TEAM

Re: Time to choose Part I : New servers in january
From what i got out of BmAn yesterday, you guys sohuld be able to get about 30 slots in total. I was thinking along the lines of 16 Dod and 14 CS slots.
Re: Time to choose Part I : New servers in january
Well, the amount of slots is open still
If we can host more slots lagfree, we will certainly use those as well...
I guess 16 is enough for DOD... rest can be consumed by CS...
Nothing is final in this... it all depends on the performance of the servers
Cheers!

Re: Time to choose Part I : New servers in january
K, that's true... but I also told: let us first test with less slots (no lagg for sure ... if the old PIII 1Ghz 512Mb 40Gb (CS-server) can keep up) ... Then, when everything works out, I suggest to enhance the number of slots. The second server (Toshiba SP6100: PIV-Mobile 2.0Ghz, 512Mb, 60Gb) should be fast enough to do its job. If it turns out that a server is not capable, I will get me another one who can for sure... So don't worry.
Update on new connection: The 31th of january the existing line (1120down/352up) will be killed by the provider and telecomprovider. I still have no message if Quicknet/BBnet (the new provider) will kick in at once. For the timebeing I can only say this: it is still possible that there will be no connection for about 1 or 2 weeks, starting the 31th of january 2005... bummer ! for now... I'll keep ya informed on this topic.
